100. A Sonnet on Sleepless NightsA Chapter by Ray Nicholsa poem about sleepless nights in the style of William Shakespeare.Upon the twilight's breath, where shadows creep, In restless chambers of a weary mind, The stars above do twinkle, yet they sleep, While I, a captive, in this night confined. O cruel hours that stretch like endless tides, With whispered thoughts that dance upon my brow, Each tick of time, a phantom that abides, For peace eludes me, here, I know not how. The moon doth cast her silver on the ground, Yet in its glow, I find no sweet reprieve, For every sigh, a heavy heart unbound, In solitude, my spirit learns to grieve. Yet in this dark, a spark of hope may rise, For dawn shall break, and with it, brighter skies.
