Heart of Cold Fire

Heart of Cold Fire

A Poem by Ravenwing
"

Really old one! I believe I wrote this freshman year in high school?.

"

My eyes are faded

My heart too cold

Will ever there be trust

To a man, my heart, thy hold

A shell, perhaps

Or a lack of “what could be”

But the ice arises

Even if a trust that shows in he

My Father, above, in your high glory

Show me that my idea is wrong

Or else this heart might harden

To a place of dark, sad song

I must admit my love was never given

But what I’ve seen is no comfort to me

An addiction of sex seems to be the mind

Of the modern he

I want to love in a gentle song

But the cold still holds me back

A defense, perhaps, from dark nights long

And the sight of the heartbroken

A heart pain, I never want to be

But still the curiosity

Of what a real love can be

With thee and me

Still, I seek a gentle song

And not a fling of desire

So far, no man has broken

This heart of cold fire
