heartsick

A love poem.

a rainy day

brings me back

to your porch

you burst through

soaking wet

kissed me

headed off to work

oh, i miss all the moments

that sing like that

times that smell sweeter now

in fond recollection than they did

even then, i never thought

those moments would die but they

closed their eyes all too soon

now i sit here

unwinding into some

insanity i cannot

fight no matter how hard

i scream against it's 

bitter cynical hand, reality

trying to hush me back 

into the person i once was;

i can't become that

girl again beaming and radiant

a crimson lily hung in a sunset sky

because your love transformed

me with a will and desire

to be a better person now i don't

care if i crash into the haze

of oblivion and become void

they say i'm heartsick

yet they can never understand

how deeply, madly, truly i will always

love you because there's a connection they

may not understand; but cannot be

severed all the same.
