davidstar

A Poem by ...

She trudges along
forcing her little body to ignore the cold
trying her best to ignore
the blanket of bodies
warming the frozen ground
with their dying flesh
Tiny skeletons forrage for food
amongst the rotting carnage
human scavengers
in rags of skin
Her face is pale
her blood has run dry in her veins
she no longer knows hunger
beyond the limits of starvation
she is a shadow of a child
her years fall from her bones
like the wrinkles of an elder
she has lost her innocence
forgotten her adolescence
robbed of her childhood
She shivers and stops
to lay down for a moment
in a corner she tries her best
to fold her body into a warmth
and onn her sleave
a Davidstar
displaying her fate
this is not her fault
she is who she is
The scavengers move closer
the sense her failing strength
tommorrow will not come
it will not bring freedom
she closes her eyes
and she sees
her Davidstar leading her home
