my blue-eyed son

my blue-eyed son

A Poem by ...

so many words could adorn my affection
sweetness painted across all i say
emotion soaking my every syllable
love carresing every sound
for naught if you cannot feel what i do

your very existence
gives meaning to my own
your presence in every thought
keeps me strong
when darkness embraces my strength
and weakness creeps up on me
when the night fills my being

you hold me in the palm of your hand
as you lay soundly in my arms
my world is yours to take
dedicated to your joy
i carried you as you became whole
and now you complete me

your laughter is the sound of salvation
my sanctuary from the truth
i hide within what you are to me
and lose myself within my all

when outside knocks at my door
and compells me to return
to being what i am without you
you keep me safe
and you keep me home
until you fill the night inside
with your silent dreams
and save me

i became myself
because you became my life
and i never knew a love as strong
until i loved my blue-eyed son

I love this and am sure any parent (apart from those with teenagers!) will identify with lots of your sentiments. I love the way you capture the concept of "connection" with another being that you created. How you are everything to them and they are everything to you, a little piece of you that is absolutely crucial; how your child cant live without you or you without them.
Very well done!
