The White RoseA Poem by Raven PegasusI actually wrote this today for my late paternal grandmother...she passed in '99. I technically never knew her as more than some elderly lady lost in an elderly home.I gave you a rose today... Just a little something for you, A person lost in time to me, Never to breathe life in this world again.
I sat with you on that cold ground today... Wondering who you were, The blood that once flowed through your veins Now flowing freely through mine.
I wondered about you today, Who were you, and why you Were never there, why you hid from me Only to die alone, and lost...bitter in spirit.
I thought about you today, What gifts did you have and Did anyone ever discover what they were... Did anyone care about you, did you care about me?
I gave you a wite rose today, And I wished for one second, one moment That I could have known you, Could have really gotten to talk to you.
I wished for us today, A wish that things could have been different, I could have learned how much of you Resides in me, and how much of your beauty I inherited.
I hoped for you today, That someday, beyond all else, Where living being cannot tread, Someday, you and I would meet, talk and learn from one another.
I cried for us today, Tears of sadness at the thought That I would never know how much of me Is a blue rose, and the white.... © 2008 Raven Pegasus |
