Like A River

Like A River

A Poem by Regis Auffray
"

Sorrow feels like a flowing (overflowing) river at times...

"

Like A River

Sorrow flows
Like a river
The sands of memories
Strangle the soul
The silt of regret
Stifle the spirit
The ache of (your) absence
The resulting emptiness
Congest the heart
The flotsam of circumstance
Smothers all hope of happiness
Gives rise to a flood of tears

Sorrow like a river
Overflows its banks

Waiting for a rainbow
It feels like drowning

Y ou've used words with great care and skill in this post : flows, sands, silt, fl otsam, etc. The metre is as it should be, but also flows somehow like water.. smooth, no frills ..

I like those final two lines .. they add the light after the storm of absence.

Thank you for sharing your fine p ost.

I like what I read, a good write. but I have one suggestion -- leave the last two lines off. Your telling the reader the ending. Let the reader have their own ending. Just my opinion. Tony
