A Note in the Mask

A Note in the Mask

A Poem by C.L. Wilson

It started with a note

It always does

The path that always forks

To the left or to the right

Do I go with lust or love?

Where do I balance being a gentleman

And get what I want?

When can chivalry obtain love

When all a lover wants is to be dirty

And have fun?

Is fun even an option when being a nice guy?

Or at least as much fun as the bad guy?

To be free and unrestricted

No boundaries to worry about

Wouldn’t that be nice?

But as I sat at my desk

As she eagerly gazes from acroos the room

Looking for my answer

I fold the note gently

And kindly smile

I chose to be a gentleman

At least upon the mask
