Why I Like Melancholy

Why I Like Melancholy

A Poem by C.L. Wilson

I am blessed

With an abundance of melancholy

My thoughts

Have never been so clear in my life

This soul is tender

And burns with the smallest of comments

But it’s okay

It only gives me more bitter words to write

I don't think I've ever read anything that in praise of melancholy so this definitely gave me a new perspective on things. Usually people write things say that melancholy is bad or a burden, so it's quite an awakening to read that you see it as a blessing. So thank you for that because from now on I will remember these words whenever I feel down. :)

I like it! it reminds me of an emily dickenson poem...
"I like a look of agony
because I know it true
Men do not sham convulsion,
nor similate a ...."

forgot the rest... It was a lot like this though...

I often write with "Dark" ink myself, I found this piece relatable. We are who and what we are and must embrace the lonely parts of ourselves....
