Good Bye Father

Good Bye Father

A Poem by C.L. Wilson

“Sorry about your grave. Thought it was deep enough.

I must have been thinking about………...other things

You make the funniest faces, especially when you die.

This is the first you’ve ever made me laugh and not cry

I wasn’t good enough, was I? I was worthless and nothing

Can nothing breathe? Can nothing think? Can nothing kill something?

The answer is no if you hadn’t figure it out already, you idiot.

I’ve done all those things so I can’t be nothing.

I hope you’ve learned your lesson now

The sun is setting. I have to go father. Kisses.

May you rest here for eternity or until the workers find you in the morn’.”

Being a father, I found this piece thought provoking. I wonder if I've been less than understanding to my own and what will they say to me at my grave. Very deep in it's simple "spoken" form.
