3 second fall

a cliff diver with no water

Its just so easy

To put yourself here from the distance

But as you pull yourself closer
Like the ebb of the tide

Nothing,

Nothing, compares to this instant.

The sky falls above you

As the gorund rushes in

Fooling and distorting

Like the clear see-thru of Gin

Tonic pushes the salt

Into the ocean spray at best

Knockback to the boat

While the dive is at its last.

See me at the pinnacle,

See me at the peak

The first

The last

The instant

The water is yet to break.

These moments come and go.

We're watching life pass us by.

Its worse when you've lived it.

And seen it when its nigh.

I'd rather be on the cliff,

Jumping from twice as high.

Plummetting into fate

Than living with this lie.

I promised to be stronger,

I promised to set her free.

But everytime I close my eyes,

She's the only one I see.

Happiness can not be given,

Purchased, sold, or earned.

It must be found inside,

In each of us in turn.

I'd sacrifice my life,

My lonliness,

My happiness,

My everything -

For one, just one,

One more chance for right.

She's worth everything to me

And She's gone without a trace

A fake smile as I drove away

A fake hug to keep me safe.

I'm not sure where I'll go from here,

It's like I'm back up on that cliff.

Except the water that would save me,

Left for softer lips.

Still standing on that cliffside

No one left to care

No one watching over me,

Not even a gawking stare.

I've never broken a promise,

I'll be damned if this is a start.

But I took an oath, I swore

'Till death do us part

Hold my breath,

And lean forward,

nothing but rocks and ground

Hold my breath,

And jump.

Brilliant poem Rj! To be in the situation of loving another other, is just like standing on that precipice. I feel sure there IS someone left who cares.

My advice is, If she is worth everything to you, take the chance.
Life is no a rehersal. By staying in a sad relation ship, all that will happen
is you will break up on the rock. Better to jump and swim for your best chance
of life.
