The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Ranjita Ghosh Dasgupta

Strong winds come gushing,

Winds of thoughts,

Good and bad, warm and cold.

Breaking open all the doors and windows

Usher into my mind

Creating havoc,

There is a storm inside.

The huge waves in the sea of thoughts

Inside my mind

Lash against each other

Breaking all the strings

That my thoughts were attached to,

Rendering me thoughtless,

Speechless, motionless.

Too many memories

Flash before my eyes,

Impairing my vision,

Makes me restless.

Let there now be rainfall

Heavier than ever before

To wash away the grease and mud

From the thoughts that surround.

Let there now be sunshine

Brighter than it has ever shone

To light up every lane in my mind

So I can see the road.
