I swear (An Ode to Time)A Poem by Sabbih HossainLike all my poems this poem is also deeply concerned with my life. I tried to give philosophical touch a bit.
Again I swear,
I swear in the name of thee; Let me swear keeping this cross on my heart, That my tongue won't say a single word, That my eyes were blind on that moment, They didn't see things that oughtn't have been seen, That my hearing got only a big-bang blow, Nothing else. That my world was dead for those very minutes, I was only a stranger in my tiny world. Here, I swear, You didn't do anything wrong, What people say, they say the wrongs. I swear, Yeah, You are not the murderer The killed ones are the only killers. I swear, You were not present there, On that day. Only your presence was felt. You are no culprit, Rather the culprit is in me. I swear once more, The hopes that I create Loose their meaning With the course of the world. So, their death is well justified, And you, oh Time, You are the lord, the One, I swear in the name of thee! © 2013 Sabbih HossainAuthor's Note
