Why Me

Why Me

A Poem by Stephan E. Weller
"

I was sitting and thinking about love and why people from different worlds fall in love

"

I wake in the morning and take a look at you

Wondering what to do

I look in the mirror and asked what you see in me

In a voice I heard I see you in me

I ask why you married an ole fool

You replied because I think you are cool

Then you said it’s your heart and what you do

That makes my heart wake up and reach for you

It’s not your looks or your weight or that you are tall

Those things are inconsequential and so small

It’s the way you love me

That makes me stay and glad to be me

You light up my nights when they are dark

You are my strength when I have lost my heart

I sit in the rooms where it takes twelve steps to live

You say that it is your heart and love you choose to give

I ask why I can’t give you the same

You answer this is not a won or lost game

Then you said it’s your heart and what you do

That makes my heart alive and call to you

It’s not your looks and weight or that you are tall

Those things are inconsequential and so small

It’s the way you love me

That makes me stay and glad to be me

She lays in bed and looks at me

And wonders what I see

In the mirror she asks what do you see in me?

In a deep voice I say I see you in me

She asks how could marry this ole fool

I replied because you think I am cool

Then I tell you it’s your heart and what you do

That turns me around just to look at you

It’s not your looks, and weight or that you are not tall

Those things are inconsequential and so small

It’s the way you love me

That makes me stay and glad to be me

It’s the love we shared from the first gaze

That still lives and people see in us everyday

It’s the playfulness in your heart

That drew me to you from the very start

It’s the dreams we make and that we share

It’s the fun stupid things we have done on a dare

It’s the cute love notes on the mirror

That makes your love even clearer

It that you give me a loving smile

When I have not done things right in a while

It’s the soup you bring when I am sick

That shows me our love is thick

It’s the love packed in my lunch

That makes my day when I am in a crunch

I can picture this as a song. As I'm reading this I start singing it to myself. This is really great and it I can understand how it comes from your heart. The emotion you put into it is very clear.
