I Am

I Am

A Poem by Ramsey

I am emotional, sympathetic

I wonder why I'm here

I hear ringing in my ears

I see shadows of people

I want reason

I am emotional, sympathetic

I pretend I'm happy

I feel empty

I touch others' hearts

I worry I'm not enough

I cry over broken dreams

I am emotional, sympathetic

I understand there's hope

I say I'll be okay

I try to be better

I hope I will prevail

I am emotional, sympathetic

Ramsey, thanks for the poem--for the entire human race! You captured in a few short lines what we've all felt at some time. You've conveyed to me a good-hearted human, severely burned-out, probably from working too closely with injured and warped minds, perhaps evil and tragedy. It's raw and intense. Still, your hope is clear and strong. Nice work.

I know what it feels like to reach out and touch others but still feel all alone. Good work, Ramsey. You will prevail. Continue to do things for others and write about it.
