When I saw 'Poem' I thought, "yes, read!" At first I thought this was you as I did not read the note at the top. And I thought this is entirely apt for so much of the world today, sadly. And the sentiment is true. I then read 'Hope' and realised you were translating the poems also. When I read hope I thought, "Respect!" as translating poetry is very difficult. However, when I looked at this piece again, it does not read like a translation at all and when I first read it I had no idea it was a translation. So well done! And Friedrich's sentiment is very positive. Perhaps I should also say I am up for all his poems more than his essays. It was good to taste his essays, but it is the poetry that really interests me. Have you dare I ask, done O2J ??? There must be a zillion translations of that right?
Yes! Because a person can't take the time to think about his spiritual self until he knows that the animal shell which contains it is assured of survival.
