War: A Threat to Humanity

War: A Threat to Humanity

A Poem by Raj Sahu
"

This poems narrates a story and conveys a message to the people against war.

"

There was a kind man,
Soft and noble his soul was!
Before his eyes was a clear goal,
To recruit in army for a particular cause.

He wished to experience the scene,
The scene of the massive war!
So excited he was from the first day,
As the bitter reality was too far.

The day arrived with a bright sky,
Brighter was the man's curiosity.
He got ready with full of zeal,
Unaware of the war's brutality.

Standing steady at the frontier,
Holding his sword like a thunder bolt!
Both armies broke down at once
And suddenly the man came to a halt.

The bright sky puffed into cloud,
A cloud full of groaning dust.
Recklessly the bodies were falling down
And the war tragedy was at must.

 Bloody, bloody the battlefield was,
Filled with innumerable heads.
Screams and shrieks were just common
But there were none from death beds.

On a courageous path, the soldiers followed,
Each carrying a brave brave heart.
But on looking at the massacre scene,
The kind man astonished on his part.

Slowly, slowly the man comprehend
The cruelty of the massive war.
He bent on his knees at the once
And threw his sword very far.

He raised his eyes to heaven,
And cried in a very loud voice;
"Is this the humanity, my Lord?"
A sudden silence spread over noise.

At horizon a beautiful bird crossed,
The beautiful bird came out as a Dove.
Carrying the serenity over her wings,
Along with the message of peace and love.

The bloody sky lost down its lust
And a whiteness smeared all around.
The Dove seems like a messenger of God;
Sent down when he heard the cry and sound.

With her long and charming wings,
She covered the entire field.
The kind man was fully surprised
As a soldier gets his protective shield.

In a moment of vision, the field vanished,
A Dreamworld took its place.
The Dove took the kind man there
And there was a comfort on his face.

The Dove quoth to the man,
"Be kind, be peaceful or unless you will fall,
For God has made you people
To praise him and love all."

The kind man understood the very message,
He swore to practice peace and harmony.
To walk long and preach all these,
Became his life-long ceremony.

Wow- amazing- you are so right- God is a kind loving God but he allows justice to prevail on His grounds and conditions- live one another- war never did good and man lost in the ways of the flesh being more harm than good- we given our own wills need to choose right- great words love the dove and the spiritual connotation used here- God is amazing🌹

Actually you are true in your words..War always brings shame to humanity..Actually time has come when we should understand that being human means to live in peace with other humans also..War definitely brings sorrow but i would like to put my opinion also regarding it .. I don't know how you will feel but i wished if you would not have used the word SOLDIER here because according to me a persons who fights in war is not just the one who is called soldier but rather one who helps in maintaining peace and harmony is the one who is called soldier..Somewhere when you used the word soldier it injured my heart like a sharp arrow you know today you are living your life , today you are able to write this poem just because someone there on border risks his life to protect your life..so that you can live in peace and harmony..Somewhere it was a big insult for all those soldiers who risk their life on our borders , who might be having children like you or me , families but they still are away from them and they risk their life..Can you feel the sorrow of a mother whose son dies in an attack so that you , me and all our countrymen can live..He dies so that we can live..Can you feel the sorrow of his wife who lost her husband or his children who have to send their childhood without knowing what the love and care of a father is just because we all live safe..War is definitely big but the soldiers who patrol for entire night on our borders who are awake for entire night so that we can sleep are not symbols of war rather they are the greatest symbols of peace and harmony..
i hope you will understand it and next time whenever you use the word soldier use it with care because of them you can live peacefully and i suggest you that try to find god in people and soldiers are no less than god because of them you are living today happily ..Try to respect them..And dear friend god is not found in stones or rocks rather he is found in heart of a person it is found in humans like soldiers who risk everything to save your life..

Thank you so much.
Of all the poems that you have written, this is my favorite. Unknowing youthful soldiers looking forward to being battle-tested and medaled; battle shocked into reality with there character forever changed.

Thank you.
War is the most inhumane thing in the world. War is where humanity becomes just a bunch letters. It reflects on your words friend. War doesn't only hurt the wounded. It hurts the whole humanity, the earth as a whole. The issue with today's world is that there are only a few doves remaining.

Thank you dear.
"Be kind, be peaceful or unless you will fall,
For God has made you people
To praise him and love all."

War can do nothing good. I ask why to have a war??? Peace and non-violence are strong attributes.
Now, about the poem, you depict an extraordinary fiction here by using man and dove etc. I like the various repetitions, similes, metaphors, alliterations etc you used here. The message is quite catchy and I think that the dictators and war lovers should have a look on your work. I hope that they might move from their decisions. Looking for more of your works.
