Starved Stomachs

Starved Stomachs

A Poem by Raj Sahu
"

This poem shows the dark side of humanity and the bad effect of poverty.

"

The eyes were constantly searching,
Searching for the food to quench the appetite.
But the stony passers were ignoring
the hungry mouths, imagining of a bite.

Poverty has become an antagonist,
In the story of starved stomachs.
Each character and himself the protagonist
Just thinks and their thumbs they suck.

The eyes shed bitter tears
And their hearts complained to the Lord,
"O Almighty! Are we lacking in prayers
or had done the deeds so abhorred?"

Unbeatable crying, but still lives the hope
And it will live until breaks the life's rope.

Very moving
Hunger seems to be all around us where ever we live and travell
Old people here
Do they spend money on eating or Heating
They live in cold houses temperatures below freezing wearing hats, coats and gloves.
Food from the "Food Bank"

Thank you so much!
This was a smooth read. Unfortunately, the passerby-effect happens too often in this world. If people would open their hearts to each other, rather than just pass by, thinking "Oh, someone else will take care of this.", the world would be so much better of a place!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your suggestion!
This poem really makes you think about situations that people face. The talk of hope at the end shows one of the blessings of humanity: hope. Even in the worst hardships hope can shine. Keep up the great work.

A good read.
It's come to this society comprises of two classes: those who have more food than appetite, and those who have more appetite than food.

Poverty should not be a thing of modern times...there is enough money in this world to feed all...breaks my heart that it is not so...well written...
