My Ego-tripping

My Ego-tripping

A Poem by Rajaraman
"

An assignment to create a 28 Line poem that illustrates an imaginary self

"

I was born in the united states

I walked the streets of the brave and free

I was designed to be free

As a woman in this world

I have rights to be whoever I want to be

I am powerful

I stand next to other great ladies

Who have shared my struggles

I feel strong and have destroyed the obstacles in my way

My mother was independent

Her strength flooded through me

To create a generation like no other

I am influential

I see a herd full of well-dressed men

Out on Wall Street

With my mother’s briefcase

And confidence so big

I became the CEO in a year

I am queen

So beautiful, so elegant

As a gift to my gender

I gave them a voice

They gave me equality

My hard work and dedication was strong

I stand proudly with my sisters

Rejoicing as our children grow up

I turned to see my face in the mirror

And see only greatness
