UNFINISHED STORIES

Ever wondered what all we have left behind,

Few tears, many hugs,

Bundles of joy and some unfinished works,

Deep within, we all remember those moments,

Some related songs, some angry words, and those faces,

You will never find them disappearing in your memories,

You keep them in hidden letters,

In torn pictures,

Between the pages of some old journals,

You may have thought of giving them life again,

Start something new,

Another attempt to rectify the mistakes,

But it’s life,

Here chances are few, but takers are many,

Unfinished stories have a certain charm,

They bring joy,

Sometimes through songs, sometimes with smiles,

Keep them there, hidden,

Like treasure and in stories, to tell your side.

This is a great piece of pondering about unfinished stories. In one way, I read this as the narrator wishing he/she could go back & finish living some actual episodes from life. In another way, I read this as a writer wanting to go back & embellish these life stories in new words. Finally, I also felt that this could be about how those stories live on inside our heads as we grow older. You use vivid, rich details from life to remind us of all the mementos & souvenirs we find in boxes & closets, suggesting stories that need to be told.
