timekeeper

timekeeper

A Chapter by hannah

a thousand and one shades of scarlet-rose,

swept across white marble floors,

winter's breeze, shattered ice

time cannot last.

washed up treasure upon sandy shores,

corpses piling and skin and bones

cold winds, snow and ash

clocks ticking, tick tock.

one by one the windows close,

ghostly smiles and callused souls

doors swing open, shut your eyes

moments passing like hours

and thousands of salt palaces crash down

fires burn beneath the piers

storms rise and take with it

what's left of time, what's left of you

I love the use imagery here. Of course the temporal nature of things always has a sort of beauty to it. The small hints of what people usually consider "darker" imagery lend an interesting contrast to the other colorful imagery you have here. Excellent.

thank you! c:
I was not expecting what you wrote at all. Is it about a certain time in history? Like a specific war? Or is it purely fiction?
