Twenty-sevenA Chapter by Laraine Davis“If you hate me so much than just kill me!” I screamed in Daniel’s face. “What?” He asked. These were the last words I remembered saying and hearing before I opened my eyes and saw Daniel’s hand waving in front of me. “Raina? Rainaaaa?” What just happened? I screamed, realizing exactly what had just happened and what would come next: the consequences, the actions and the deaths that would take place. “Raine, what the hell are you screaming for?” I didn’t respond. I stumbled a bit and then fell onto the ground. Daniel sat down next to me and shook me hard, “Raina, what’s wrong??” “Daniel?” I asked. Stunned. He was alive. He was here. “Yeah…?” He asked, completely confused. The waterworks sprouted up and I broke down crying. “Daniel, oh, it is you! You’re alive! Oh, Daniel!” I wrapped my arms around him. “Uhh…” Was all he said. I didn’t let go. I wanted this moment to last forever. Maybe this was a dream, but it was too real to be something like that. He took my arms and unraveled me from him. He then held my hands in his lap and asked, “Raina, can I ask you what the heck is going on here because I obviously missed something.” I was too happy to say anything. Daniel could sit there and by bamboozled for a couple more minutes while I reminisced. After a couple of minutes of non-stop hugging from me to Daniel, I leaned back and decided that I might as well try to figure out what was going on. “So, Daniel, you don’t know anything about a guy named Blake or you having BPD or jumping out a 4 story window?” Daniel looked extremely puzzled but replied anyway, “No, I don’t think so, Sunny. Are you all right? You were standing there for about ten minutes staring into space. I was shaking you and calling your name, but you just stood there motionless.” I could not believe this. “Daniel, I…I think I just had a premonition.” Daniel looked like he was about to laugh but after he got a good intake on my expression, he didn’t. “Raine, you looked so shocked. What exactly happened?” I swallowed. Should I tell him? “Long story short, you died.” Daniel choked on his own surprise and asked, “I what?” I nodded, not wanting to repeat myself. “Oh, Raine. It must have felt so real.” I nodded once more. I couldn’t speak. The tears spoke for me, though. Daniel pulled me into a hug. I soaked his shirt with my tears but I didn’t care. I would love him for an eternity. Nothing mattered, as long as he would never leave me. Not ever again. © 2008 Laraine Davis |
