Not you.

Not you.

A Poem by Laraine Davis
"

it's about my mother

"

Days turn to Nights

Smiles turn to Frowns

Your love turns to Hatred

Where are you?

How could you leave?

Your smile seems fake

Your love seems wasted

One moment

Of laughter

The clock ticks

Tick

Tock

A new person

Inside of you

A new person

I don't recognize

Where are you?

Why did you leave?

I miss what you were

I hate what you are

Don't you realize?

Don't you see?

Just look

And tell me

That you are not

The same person from years back

Not the same person

Not the same smile

You are an alien to me

Where are you?

Are you there?

In that body?

Who is this that I see?

That stands before me now?

That is not you

I love you

Can't you see?

Why won't you

Just

Listen?

Always angry

Always faking

Always yelling

Please

Won't

You

Listen

To Me?

Where are you now?

Gone.

oh so wonderful writing ,yes sometimes we never understand ,how people behave
and here its the parent ,the mother, most precious mother, why did you change ,i do not know you no more, why leave ,she will not stay no more
its not that strange ,people are all like isolated islands ,oh yes you knew her well ,but inside there is much more
you only see what she permits to show out
but it seems some more inside were working and she was convinced this is not her life
not being with you ,not her life so its goodbye, and you wonder why,but never wonder, again i see some wonder soft writing telling about life ,relations and how strange, you tell it so nice, very poetic,i just loved it

Your poetry is concise. To the point, but without sacrificing emotion. In fact the quickness helps to convey--to enunciate--a sense of bitterness, of vexation, frustration...whichever -tion happens to be most relevant.
