![]() These ThingsA Poem by Laraine DavisThese tears just seem to fall Upon my pillow all night long For your scent lingers here And I long for the love that once was I'm lost in the memories Floating aimlessly through What else can I do Without you I'm being brave Fighting this feeling That might just break through Maybe one day I'll reach out to you I wonder if you'll reach back So I hold out my hand And I brace myself Expecting you to slap my love away You give me that look I know Nothing can be done Sitting here Thinking of what might could happen If things actually happened These things that would've been the future And memories by this time My tears are dried on my face And my eyes are swollen and red But I keep thinking of those memories As your scent wafts to me Clogging my ability to think To move on These things that happened Between you and me Distant memories if you ask you New beginnings if you ask me But you don't ask You are simply not my love But my past You are not my future But my memory And you are not my best friend But a best friend remembered © 2008 Laraine DavisAuthor's Note
