Living SunsetA Poem by VickyPersonification of the sunset because I'm quite inspired by the wide range of colors the sky holds, and I'm just infatuated with the sky.The beautiful colors light up the sky. It all looks so marvelous on the surface, But there’s something hiding underneath, For a friendly mask always conceals the monster. A dark red, just shy of matching the hue of blood, Piercing the vulnerable sky. Red is angry and dominates the sunset. Light orange, distinguishable yet fading. Orange feigns kindness, seemingly pleasant, But is planning a harmful conspiracy. Yellow sits in the center, Keeping everything warm and appealing, But sometimes abuses his power, Intentionally burning the others. Yellow is ominous. The colors of the sunset fill the sky, Looking as if they get along, Working together to create natural beauty. But something is wrong. All the colors ever do is compete with each other. The collaboration of hues falls apart. They can’t handle the tension any longer. As the sun goes down, the colors depart, Not hesitating to stand up and leave. Stepping backward until they vanish, Turning the sky a simple blue once again. © 2013 Vicky |
