I sit patiently for my assignments Awaiting Intel of my next marks, My bags are always packed for departure For my travels are far and wide Personal judgment and prosecution, Reigns down on souls who’ve wronged with pleasure Unbeknownst to them, They’ve summoned me through personal affidavits, Sent by their victim’s weeping heart. My work is universal, Aggregation of all walks of life My itinerary delivers me global, Speaking retribution in every language Scouring the land, punishing the punishers, A justly deserved penalty for hurtful inflictions bestowed I’m their sick redemption, Conjured up wishfully, willed into fruition. My mission payments are never monetary, I’m rewarded with the mental peace of others. For it is my presence many seek….. and the aftermath I leave behind. My skills are in high demand, Sinister orders coming in droves No matter the hour, season or year, My service render is timeless, Requiring only a compass …. to locate my original benefactor. You will never detect my arrival, but will know that I’ve been there, ….and in the midst of your despair, You will have shook hands with an assassin, Come cheek to cheek with the eliminator of joy, Shared space with a murderer of souls and laughed with the destroyer of hearts. And when you’re sitting in agony..… finally having the courage to utter my name, Whimpering with tears, your lips part…..“Karma”
A very interesting piece. At first I thought it was about hired assassins but as I read further I started to wonder what it was really about. I then thought perhaps it is about those who kill and torture hearts and souls, and perhaps it is, but when I arrived at the ending I was surprised to find out that it was about karma. By the way, You said that you're working on a novel. What's it about?

Thank you for taking time to read and share feedback! I'm working on a novel based much on my life. Very difficult to write for me, since my life is pretty boring! lol....which means family comes into play and there lies the thick of it! :)

No, not writing in first person, the character is actually my alter-ego Rain! My writer's name! But with much truth and a great deal of embellishment to not expose myself completely. The other characters in the novel are family and friends, their names will be changed but again the content TRUE! It's touchy because some of our lives have dark corners but light has come from the turmoil! Real life ink is always better than fictitious ink! Ok, enough about this! Believe it or not, I've answered this question a thousand times. Thanks for the interest!:)

I agree. Reality is always stranger and more interesting than fiction.

This was excellent. About half way down I thought to myself, "sounds like karma" then, sure enough I read the last line. Good imagery, and I like the ferocity with which the personified Karma views their purpose.

I'm on another poetry site and no one manage to figure it out, caught by surprise at the ended, which was my intent! :) Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback, NobleP!xoxo
