Under the mango tree

Under the mango tree

A Poem by ragtack

My Lord

It was so long ago

Yet it feels like today

I can still smell the scent

the ocean upon the breeze

Taste and feel the mango

upon my lips

in those days of war and blood

yet

too short to sweet

heaven

was under the stars

we were no more than flowers

coming into bloom

on a island

in the South China seas

My Lord

you took her away

much

much too soon

the anger has passed

but now and then

 a tear still falls

if only

for one more precious night

to be wrapped in her warmth

of the loveliness

her smile

under the mango tree
