Discarding Quiescence

Discarding Quiescence

A Poem by Aiza

How I writhe in your memory,

The things you've done to me,

When I was young- a naive, gullible, searching,

           Even deprived girl

How I trusted your hand

Always keeping me 'safe'

            in sin

But it was fine--oh well

We were in love

I was

Should I discard the past?

Like I always said I did?

Believing in you. I did that.

Watching you sleep while we held one another

Studying your face, I hummed you songs

                                 and kissed you

In your quiescence,

Eyelashes fluttered when I touched your cheek

One more.

But, I had to leave

Trying not to wake you, beautiful thing

I left you

Sneaking back in without a sound

Crying

Knowing without a doubt that I never wanted to be away

Knowing we would be tried and torn

I'd see you again.

Many times, secretly

And kiss you..

But how I hate your memory sometimes

How I writhe.

Your punctuation and indenting is very interesting. I really like it.
