Poseidon

Poseidon

A Poem by Aiza

From a sinking boat they roll me
  To lighten the load
Tied tight so as not to fight
Back
     And forth
The waves toss me

        My sight begins to blur

Soon the horizon is lost and
I am forced to view my own breath rise in spheres
Coils of my hope rush to the surface
Escaping the anchor that is my body

In a last fit to live,
                          I push against the deep
Arching upward to the place that light shines through,
                  Where the warmth lives

This final, silent scream relinquishes the last of my life
  A single sphere
And it floats so delicately this time

                    My soul, drifting upwards
             Reaching towards a final freedom
