Little Bat

Little Bat

A Poem by Raevyne

Sudden silver snowfall rushed the ground,
Cold lips warmed me amidst the hiss
Of icy petals, winding between us
Caught my eyelashes, your glasses
Our umbrella.

Winter burned through my nose and lungs
Our arteries pounded like a drum circle
The sound of our hearts filled my ears

A thousand moments from then
Frost is scorched by summer
My blood is bitter with sun
Our tempers spark the air-
I wish for snow.

Later, you will wrap your limbs around me
The cool night will soothe our wounds
We'll bed our tempers with the heat
As you settle in my atmosphere, I'll ask
"Can you hear the music now?"

I really enjoyed the alliteration you used from the start. Your image in line three of blood being bitter with sun is a good juxtaposition which made me think of a more Gothic Neruda. You show a good control of words and images here as well. Well done.

Very powerful imagery here. Your command of words into image is stunning. The topic is unique and draws the reader in. Keep up the great work!
