Empty Dreams, Passing Thoughts

Empty Dreams, Passing Thoughts

A Poem by Rebecca Ann Englehart

“Empty Dreams, Passing Thoughts”

25 November 2000

I sit and stare into space

Holding my paper and pen

There’s something I want to say to you

But I’m not sure how or when

I guess I should start by telling you

The way I feel deep inside

I’m so afraid of what you’ll think of me

But its something I can no longer hide

I’ll miss the memories we’ve made together

It seems like just yesterday

I’ll miss the way you kissed my lips

I’ll never let it slip away

The feelings that I have for you

Were yesterday, hard to find

I’m now surrounded by teardrops

For a love I must leave behind

No matter how far apart we are

I’ll always think of you and smile

I’ll hold you close within my heart

Across each and every mile

I hope you won’t forget me

And all the memories we’ve made

For empty dreams and passing thoughts

In time will never fade
