The Nightmare That Never Ends

The Nightmare That Never Ends

A Poem by Rachel Diana Mote
"

This is a poem of what its like to live with depression

"

Let the raven speak through his beady eyes.

The “Caw” just another song we all know different.

He casts a shadow for you to hide in…

A scratch in the glass or just another imperfection in your reflection.

Don’t let them see.

Master your masks. Put on that beautiful smile

If only they knew.

Roll down your sleeves. Don't let them see how you've coped.

It’s the sword of Damocles over your head.

It’s the weight of the world on your shoulders.

It’s lurking around every corner you turn.

There is no escape from yourself.

Don't bother running from the monsters that once were under your bed.

They'll forever be with you for they are now in your head.

Learn how they move, practice it in the mirror.

Can you see it?

You're not who you once were.

So keep your hopes up high, and your head down low.
