The pretty people say

The pretty people say

A Poem by Rae Newsome

Just a nibble, come and stay
The pretty people say
Dance and skip, put a little to your lips
Sing and twirl, just like a little girl
Pointed ears and skin that shines,
Eyes that swirl with liquid fire.

Winter and Night, Fall and Summer
Courts are they, try to make you stray,
From a path of grey
Welcome to the light,
To the world of nothing right

Soon it will be tragic,
It works just like magic
Take a bite, you will see
It takes all your fight
You struggle to flee,
Your soul is trapped, no more wandering here

Night has stolen your sight
Winter has taken your touch
Fall has blinded your passion
Summer has dimmed your light

What a blunder, here you'll stay
The pretty people say
