Misleading Father

Misleading Father

A Poem by Julie Spade
"

My father and yours.

"

Engulfed with exhaustion and sin

my father presents himself in

wearing all black

for all the love he will lack

from a daughter, and a wife

I, plant myself on the chair

for my dad shall care!

I press upon the button

it immediately turns on

As I begin to read

he will fulfill his treacherous deed

Violently grabs his forsaken knife

driving in to my youth and electrical life

He doesn't praise his offspring

only to critize my heartfelt fling.

Treating me as if my passion were nothing

He will break my heart

again and again

like an elementary backstabbing friend

it's planned from the start

he will shred my work apart

this cycle will have no end

Shakes his head

claiming he wants to sleep instead

jealous and proud

he plays the words around

making it worse

yet, I laugh and say

my father will understand one day.

Author's Note

Julie Spade
My father doesn't seem entirely interested in my work because of his long hours making some MULLAH however my dad tries his hardest to show he is there for me ...even when he has no idea what the hell he's "understanding".
