Wherein Lies Continue

Wherein Lies Continue

A Poem by r
"

Inspired by the song Wherein Lies Continue by Slipknot

"

“Do not stray

From this life that’s been chosen

These are the facts

Let your heart harden”

This is what we’re told

But something inside

Wants to question it all

These “truth” finally denied

It feels like

Whatever we try

It will not stop them

So let the narrow-minded die

So go tell the world

These newfound discoveries

Try to have them clear their minds

Of all beliefs in other things

We are running in circles

And challenging the old ways

The past friends and family

Tell us we’re insane

No matter what they try

We know they can’t win

So tell them the information

On how not to sink, to swim

Change what you can change

Accept the things you can’t

Try to extend the hand of hope to others

Pull them from death’s sure slant

I’m better now

Thanks to myself

My conscious was

My one sure help

I can tell you

Exactly what to do

But when it boils down

This is all up to you

I refuse to play

Anymore games

I shall never do that again

Acting ok, playing pretend

If the only way to live

Is to follow you

I will not do that ever again

Death is what I’ll choose

Whatever is done

Is what it will be

One day this world will end

And all that’s left then, is me.

Very nice. I can relate to this poem on some level: I have played advocate on occasion for kids that have started to drown themselves as opposed to make correct choices. It's hard sometimes.
