Responsibility

Soon very soon

working will become my life

even though it will be short

it'l be out of strife

 

breaks will be few

and sleep will be small

only waiting

for one phone call

 

this is a call that will let me know

she is alright

it will in turn

get rid of all my fright

 

until she is home

and well

my life will be

a working hell

 

work, work, work

do your chores

if you do

a break may be yours

 

so drink some red bull

stock up on sleep

then that will end

a hard few weeks

As to your poem, you speak of the drudgery most have to deal with each day and in this case, such drudgery is what gets us through when there are more pressing things on our minds.
