Curiosity Meets a Sonnet

Curiosity Meets a Sonnet

A Poem by Rachel
"

A little sonnet I wrote in my writing class; dedicated to life's unknown mysteries. I struggle with anxiety; especially trigged when thinking about my purpose in life. Please leave some feedback! :)

Curiosity Meets a Sonnet

What is the meaning of life?

If everyone was created with a purpose….whats mine?

Was it to be a teacher, a doctor, a pilot, a wife?

Am I suppose to be here….or should I get back in line?

Why am I living my life on autopilot?

How can I know I will wake up tomorrow?

Does it matter my life is public, never private?

Will I find my passion, or live in sorrow?

Is Earth the only home to living creatures?

Do aliens even exist on this universe?

Will they be able to accept our different features?

Will World War 3 be caused by their need to disperse?

Does everything really “happen for a reason”?

Will this be seen as freedom, or treason?

Chuckling here - the "meaning of life" quandary... I think nearly EVERY poet has given it a tumble or three. The sarcasm here was telling - the subject of self ...enamoring.

Only certain people have the ability to view poetry in a comical sense. :)
The only thing I have to say about this sonnet is that the musicality gets choppy with certain lines. A sonnet is usually in iambic pentameter, and though what you're doing here is fine - breaking the mold and making it more fluid - you should be careful with choppy musicality, for that can ruin the power of the poem as a whole. But other than that, this is phe-no-me-nal! Profound and powerful! Well done!

A beautiful sonnet, though it does beg the reader to think about things that most push to the back of their minds. The first and last sections of this poem were very powerful and definitely thought-provoking. All and all this was a very nice sonnet and I would love to read some poems that lay raw your thoughts to some of the questions you yourself propose here. Anyways as I said previously some very beautiful work. I've enjoyed reading your writings thus far and hope to continue doing so into the future!
