1st Stanza:
You can't fight fire with fire
They'll just throw you a bigger flame
And water and ice
Will freeze you just the same
You'll never get sparks
Without a hint of chemistry
You can't light a fire that easy
The only thing you can do
Is let go and let it be

2nd Stanza:
Thought you were my knight in shining armor

This is a fine piece of original work. When a poem opens as brilliantly as this does, it surely cannot fail to turn out well. And it didn't fail. In fact, it surprises you even further with the use of the songwriting layout; which adds an extra dimension to the way the reader interprets it. Obviously, there is a very close link between good poetry and good songwriting; they inter-relate. And I think this poem is intended as a poem and not a song but merely employs the technique of song structure to show how a poem might be seen in the same light; the reader imagining the work in terms of a song as well as a work of poetry. Perhaps people too often overlook poetry's importance in this sense.
