Escape

This was a poem I wrote way back in high school.

Sometimes I want to go somewhere far away,
Where no one could see me cry;
Where I'd no longer feel this way,
And no one would see the tears falling down my eyes.

I no longer want to feel this loneliness
Or feel the hurt sustain,
Don't want this emptiness
That in my heart remains.

I just want to be happy-
Feel a bit of love;
Find a world fit for me
And be as peaceful as a dove.

I should pass through hardship, I understand;
But I feel that the people I trust had already abandoned me-
Now I don't know where to stand.

I just want to be free-
Free from all the hurting,
And all the worries life brought to me;
And for once,
Just keep on smiling-
Smiling endlessly.
