OxygenA Poem by rachielleAkin to the oxygen I draw in, You are a necessity I need to survive. And I thought I was yours, too; But you failed me. I needed you there- The wisp of fresh air In a world of smoke and ashes; But you left me choking on Puffs of venom into my chest. Now I can’t breathe. I’m inhaling what is left of you But you’re out of reach. I could have sworn you’d die for me, But now I’m in between life and death And you could not even spare me A moment of breath. Still, you’re the last thought in my head As I take in what I can- Dying a martyr, Gasping for air; Only to realize that what I’d always believed in Was never there. © 2010 rachielleReviews
