Check Soul Mate

Check Soul Mate

A Poem by Rachel Landes

I see it as black and white
An insane world
Cannot create
Sane souls
So writers write
With liquified minds
And screaming bodies
Bleeding ink
Onto banker's checks
Beauty broken
Bulldozed into paper brainwashing
Pawns are
Easily scratched
Once unpackaged
And if I love
You could leave
Stealing my last reason
Left to smile
And so soon
We will forfeit
This game
Where players get played
And circles
Boxed into boxes
And when money loses its voice
There will be no reason left
To play
