Awakening .1A Chapter by Rachel LandesKiss my eyelids closed. Smooth my blizzard of hair, freckled white from flaking clouds. Trace your thumb over the ridge of my cheekbone, blushed crimson with cold. Smother me with your heat, your skin scalding my skin, your body sparking with my body. Let your hands wander over me: my scars, my shadowed eyes, the dimple that should bracket the ghost that was my smile. And as you touch me, and edge closer towards me, with your eyes tugging mine to yours, see how my breathing is getting sharper, and shallower. And how my face is collapsing into planes of agony, my forehead crumpling, and my mouth easing open, and sighing with relief, as you enter me - like water trickling past the parched lips of a swimmer drowning at sea, where there is too much salt and sadness. And now your nakedness strips away your layers, and you are unguarded, with your head dipping forward to press against my forehead. And I am gasping, and you are gasping. And we are wondering if we should let this light explode between us, and shatter the darkness, and demons, and all of this destruction. And if maybe, in place, we could build the crookedest of paths, and the shakiest of bridges, and clutching hands and dreams, walk away. © 2014 Rachel LandesAuthor's Note
