Long Distance

Long Distance

A Poem by Rachel Landes

Can't pack
For a life
Like this
This is amazing
Keep catching my breath
Don't know what to say first

Keep the lights on
In the city of lights
You have got to burn bright
You have got to be a light
Like fairy dust
And dusty feet
Forever and ever
In never never land

Lying about my lies
Abort this mistake
Do not mistake me
For someone else
Who doesn't mind
Not using their mind

Speak to me
In muffled whispers
Whispering footsteps
Looks like I look like
Someone I know

And maybe I didn't recognize myself
Because I wasn't being myself
And I will notice you
When you start being you

Trust me
I will be doing you
A favor

Return
Is high
On pills
Eleven
Something your mind can't touch
Let go of logic
And dream to dream
A dream worth dreaming
