My Queen

My Queen

A Poem by Rachael Rainbow

She walks like a queen

With beauty without compare

With grace extraordinare.

Her eyes glow with strength,

She seems to fill a room,

Not just occupy it.

Her lips are like the darling buds of May;

I long to kiss them

And make her look at me.

Dear queen,

I know that I am but a lowly subject;

Can you find it in your heart

To look at me

With those green eyes you call your own?

I wish it was my name you said,

Caressed it like a prayer,

Exalted! Shout my affections

From the highest mountain.

But alas.

You will never want me.

You have your king,

You would never want another queen.

Brilliant. When I started reading, it sounded like another typical, cliched love poem. But it all made sense at the end. "You have your king, you would never want another queen." Well done. Favouriting this one. :)
