Years Pass Us ByA Poem by Rachael RainbowIt's a love poem. :DYears span in front of us Looming, welcoming, speaking of days yet to come Years speaking of school and college Of good grades and bad Of kissing and long nights Under the moon and star's silent lights We'll sit on front porches Kiss whenever we like We'll go out with friends Get drunk and get loud Wake up the next morning and laugh it away We'll live and we'll laugh I'll wake up in your arms I'd swear you're an angel, Sent from God Himself. You'd kiss my head and I'd laugh... We'd drive to work Do what we love best My ears filled with the laugher of children And high soprano voices The tinkling of piano keys The strum of guitar strings The years progress and show on our faces You'll swear I'm beautiful I'll laugh and object At night I'll lay beside you We'll talk until the sun stains the sky purple. The years will eventually come to an end The front porch we shared, Crawling with vines The kids that I've taught With kids of their own Still together we lay Under emerald green grass.
