Infamous

Infamous

A Poem by rachpadgett

I'm starting to think

it won't be okay

if i have to stay in this town

one more damn day

suffocate me, strangle me

'cause i'd rather be in your chokehold

than another's arms

what's mine is yours, what's real is fake

what's here is there, what's ours they'll take

who are they, and where?

'cause i have to blame this on somebody

and we both know it won't be you or me

them, it's always them

not us

a blunder, not lust

that lead us astray

stay

i hate who you think you are

but i love who i know you'll be

my empathy is a mockery

of what you failed to see

what scares me the most is that soon you'll have a choice

'cause it won't be me that you're missing

and it won't be my lips that you're kissing

it'll just be me; wishing

that I'd just kept my damn mouth shut in the first place

I envy myself when I'd never known your face
