how do you write a song?

how do you write a song?

A Poem by rachpadgett

here it goes, another song

another reason i was wrong

that every word you wrote to me, will become a melody

there are people, in my head

they don't talk to me; instead,

they teach my long life lessons like, "forget the ones who leave."

i turned on, my t.v.

and what appeared to me

was a forgotten soul whom i once knew, as if to prove,

he took my hand; this is what he said to do:

"run to an airplane, fly far away from here;

fly to a place, where my memory is near."

i'll be waiting for you somwhere, somehow it will be clear

that i was wrong, and you were right

but that doesn't matter, because tonight

i suppose i figured out how to play my song, music finds it's way along

and it tells you to recall the ones who leave

Wow! I really liked this! Your poem had a captivating rhythmic flow to it, and I liked how simple yet effective it was. The backstory to your poem was really intriguing, and I think that a lot of the things that you mentioned in your poem are things that many people are able to relate to. I loved the last line. It's so sad, yet so true. :)
