A Poem by girlandpen

I remember when the sky wasn’t blue

I remember when the birds didn’t sing

I remember when the weeds over grew

And covered the flowers I planted out back

I remember when the clouds weren’t white

I remember when the wind stood still

I remember when you came in to fight

And led in your troops with guns cocked and set

I remember their pace

Crushing my flowers

I remember your face

Grinning in malice

I remember that moon

You stuffed in your pocket

Hiding my light

No bright

I remember when you raided my home

Took a handful of flowers

Tore them to shreds

And left me alone

I remember

I remember when you came back

Without your crown

I remember when you came back

To visit your hometown

I remember when you hugged me as a mother should

Like you didn’t just

Burn my tower

Like you didn’t just

Steal my flowers

I remember

Like you thought I’d forget

I remember

Like it was yesterday

My eyes still blind

Like it was yesterday

Oh my , such an imaginative poem, taking to task, recalling hurt as if. Awesome rhyming and that's what I expect in poetry. Kudos.

Well done. I like the changes of format in each verse. I like the impact of the single lines. I like the word pictures you have chosen. And it all contains the passionate feeling so well. Hopefully this poem will be very cathartic to the young lady who wrote it!

wow, this is a beautiful piece; this is a very passionate and deeply spoken piece. Your form is absolutely phenomenal, and the emotion is very strongly sensed. I love this :)

wow, this is heavy---the haughty crown some wear until they get it knocked off, then they want forgiveness---too little , too late...

the memory is a sure thing.

Strange how some have "selective" memory towards the past and others have a fully different perception of events - isn't it?
