Lighter than a Breath

Lighter than a Breath

A Poem by open ended
"

Letting go in a controlled way. Or not.

"
05-21-'11
Drowning and falling,
Chocking and flailing.
Never had I ever breathed
Air as heavy as this.
The anger, resentment
hurt and the dread-
this feeling of debasement,
leaves me cold yet, instead:
The pull and the tug
of that ultimate light of freedom
leaves in my heart a dancing jitterbug:
full of excitement and whispery wisdom.
It stops the time,
leaves my breath hanging,
my heart thudding
due to the adrenaline rushing.
I spread my arms wide
to embrace that fate
of which I long to ride
the thirst I long to sate.
The wind is howling in my hears,
freezing my nose and stopping my tears,
yet they fall and fall and fall
my happiness cleanses me from all.

Really enjoyed this poem. Good flow. You wrote:

I spread my arms wide
to embrace that fate
of which I long to ride
the thirst I long to sate.

You might change "sate," to "slake," just to change up the more predictable wording. Really good job.
