When Green Fades to GreyA Poem by open endedYearning and confusion tug at the heartstrings with this poem that echoes bygone times.09-01-'11 When the
world is cold And the stars
are old And our souls
be lonelier still Take me by
the hand and lead me away, Away to the
window sill
Where the
outside is bright And the
leaves are still green Where my
heart was still fresh And the
leaves in youth Remain
forever still
Where love isn’t
lost But found and
won Where hearts
are forever Laughing and
gay Where smiles
still be merry And smoke is
away Where mirrors
lay broken and shattered by day
Yet when the
night comes There comes
but a cry The veriest,
most lonely cry of the night The night of
misuse and of greatest lies, Where secrets
remain as smoke to the fires And yet may
it be And yet be it
may
I will love
you forever still When the
green leaves turn grey. © 2012 open endedAuthor's Note
